BUBBLE TEA ORIGINATED IN TAIWAN IN THE EARLY 1980’S

The sweet and cool taste everyone loves. This became a hit that was talked about for its "unique" tea flavor filled with Tapioca pearls also known as Boba or Popping pearls that was added to the tea. Once all ingredients are added you shake it which formed bubbles in the drink, which came to be known as "Bubble Tea." Bubble Tea is also known as Boba Drink, Pearl Tea Drink, Tapioca Ball Drink.

Bubble Tea has a unique appearance which are sweet and refreshing with tapioca pearls that sit on the bottom of a clear cup. This tea is served with powdered flavoring, creamer, and crushed ice. The tapioca pearls come in black. These pearls include tapioca starch, brown sugar which give it the black color. There are other popping pearls that vary in color and flavor. The consistency of tapioca pearls is somewhere between chewing gum and Jell-O. Often, people think of it as a 'gummy bear' texture. This is a unique taste. A clear cup with a fat straw and black tapioca balls on the bottom can easily be identified as a Bubble Tea drink. The fat straw is needed so that the pearls can be sucked up with the bubble tea and eaten.
